President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo inspected vaccination drive for students in Samarinda, East Kalimantan Province during his working visit to the city, Tuesday (24\/8).<\/p>\n

The inoculation of the first dose of China\u2019s Sinovac vaccine was followed by 1,053 participants in several stages. The total vaccine that will be injected for the people that day is approximately 24,000 doses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning I oversee in Samarinda City and there are other nine regencies and cities that are also carrying out vaccination drive at the same time. The total vaccines in East Kalimantan Province today are 24,000 doses,” said the President.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President also reviewed the implementation of vaccination drive in the nine districts \/ cities virtually. Those nine regencies \/ cities were Balikpapan City, Bontang City, East Kutai Regency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Paser Regency, North Penajam Paser Regency, Berau Regency, West Kutai Regency, and Mahakam Hulu Regency.<\/p>\n

“We hope that everything will run smoothly and herd immunity will soon be built in the province. We also hope that the spread of COVID-19 can be immediately reduced and eliminated from this province,” he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, representative of mass vaccination organizers from West Kutai Regency said that the public show high interest in the vaccination drive, thus he asked for more allocation of vaccines.<\/p>\n

“The enthusiasm from the public is extraordinary, we ask the Government to add the vaccine supply,” he said.<\/p>\n

In response to the request, the President said that the Central Government will send the vaccines to the provincial health office (Dinkes) to be distributed to districts \/ cities.<\/p>\n

Closing the dialogue, the President expressed hope that the acceleration of vaccination drive could reduce the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in the country.<\/p>\n
