Cabinet Secretariat\u2019s Center for Government Translators and Interpreters Development (Pusbinter) holds Competency Test for Indonesian Government Translators and Interpreters (known as \u201cFunctional Official of Translators\/Interpreters\u201d or PFP).\u00a0\u00a0As many as 22 PFPs from central and regional government institutions take\u00a0part in the competency test which held online from 30 August to 3 September 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlhamdulillah<\/i><\/em>, thank God, this is the second competency test organized in 2021 to facilitate those who will be promoted next year,\u201d\u00a0Head of\u00a0Pusbinter Sri Wahyu Utami\u00a0said during the opening of the competency test\u00a0on Monday (30\/8).<\/p>\n

Sri went on to say that since 2018, the competency test has been used as a requirement for PFPs to be appointed to a higher position. It serves as a feasibility test to ensure and to guarantee that each functional official has mastered competencies needed for certain position.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, Cabinet Secretariat will continue to facilitate such test to encourage you to improve your potentials, competencies, and also master new expertise,\u201d she firmly said.<\/p>\n

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the competency test including English language proficiency\u00a0test\u00a0and Indonesian language proficiency\u00a0test will be held online.<\/p>\n

\u201cResponding to your suggestions to match the test with your daily tasks at office, there are two types of translation skills\u00a0tests, namely compulsory and elective tests. The compulsory test comprises of translation of government letters and news articles from government institutions\u2019 websites. Meanwhile, the elective covers translation of legal texts, literary works, and scientific papers,\u201d she explained adding that each participant can choose one from the elective subjects.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Cabinet Secretariat also allowed PFPs that master languages other than English to choose translation skills\u00a0test from Indonesian language to languages of their expertise, such as Arabic, Dutch, Japanese, and France.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe innovation is introduced to adjust the test to your real output at work and to encourage you to continuously use the languages or even improve your skill in languages other than English that you have mastered,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

In addition, a training session\u00a0is also held for the participants so they have an opportunity to hone their skills before doing the test. She expressed hope that all participants can seize this opportunity to learn from experienced trainers and academic practitioners in the\u00a0fields of language and translation and give their best in the test.<\/p>\n

\u201cCabinet Secretariat as the fostering agency of government translators and interpreters\u00a0is obliged to ensure your competencies since translators and interpreters play a strategic role to bridge written and spoken communications between the Indonesian Government and friendly countries or partners. They also play a role in preserving Indonesian language and culture,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
