President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (9\/10) officially launched Cash Assistance Program for street vendors and small shop owners in the Malioboro area, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).<\/p>\n

“This morning, we’d like to inaugurate the launching of cash assistance program for street vendors and small shop owners throughout the country together with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Ngarso Dalem<\/em> (the Sultan) who served as Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta, the Ministers, as well as Mayor of Yogyakarta,” the President said.<\/p>\n

The President underlined that the assistance will be distributed to one million micro business actors, which is worth Rp1.2 million each.<\/p>\n

“The assistance worth Rp1.2 million is supposed to be sufficient based on the calculations. We start the launching in the Malioboro area, Yogyakarta,” he said.<\/p>\n

The President further said that the distribution of the assistance will be carried out by the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).<\/p>\n

Marking the launching of this program, the President symbolically handed over cash assistance to representatives of street vendors and small shop owners.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the rate of economic growth in Yogyakarta remains high though the province still imposes level 3 public activity restrictions (PPKM).<\/p>\n
