{"id":232045,"date":"2021-11-17T08:04:24","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T01:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/?p=232045"},"modified":"2021-11-17T19:07:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T12:07:29","slug":"manpower-minister-urges-governors-to-set-provincial-minimum-wage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/en\/manpower-minister-urges-governors-to-set-provincial-minimum-wage\/","title":{"rendered":"Manpower Minister Urges Governors to Set Provincial Minimum Wage"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_232047\" style=\"width: 509px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-232047\" class=\"size-full wp-image-232047\" src=\"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Picture1-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"389\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-232047\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah (Photo by: Documentation of BPMI of Presidential Secretariat)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah has urged the governors to set the provincial minimum wage (UMP) no later than 21 November 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The minimum wage must be in accordance with the provisions of <\/span><span lang=\"IN\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jdih.setkab.go.id\/PUUdoc\/176387\/PP_Nomor_36_Tahun_2021.pdf\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021 on Wages<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">, which is the derivative rule of <\/span><span lang=\"IN\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jdih.setkab.go.id\/puu\/buka_puu\/176266\/UU_Nomor_11_Tahun_2020.pdf\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Law Number 11 of 2020 on Job Creation<\/span><\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">&#8220;The governors must determine the UMP no later than 21 November 2021, and since it is a national holiday, the determination must be carried out one day before at the latest, i.e. on 20 November,&#8221; the Minister said in a press statement, Jakarta, Tuesday (16 \/11).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">According to her, the regency\/municipality minimum wage (UMK) must be determined no later than 30 November 2021 after the determination of the UMP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Minister said that the provisions for the deadline have been reaffirmed in Circular of Minister of Home Affairs Number 561\/6393\/SJ on the determination of the 2022 minimum wage, which was sent to all governors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Ida further emphasized that the determination of the 2022 minimum wage is based on Job Creation Law and Government Regulation Number 36\/2021 as its derivative regulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The minimum wage aims to provide protection to workers\/laborers so that their wages are not too low due to their weak position in the labor market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">&#8220;The minimum wage policy is intended as an instrument of poverty alleviation and of course, to boost the progress of Indonesia&#8217;s economy through fair and competitive wages,&#8221; she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">On that occasion, Ida also revealed that the minimum wage is the lowest wage set by the Government that applies to workers\/laborers with working period less than one year at the company concerned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cThe essence of the minimum wage formula, based on Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021, is to reduce the minimum wage gap between regions. This inter-regional wage fairness, once again, is achieved through the approach of average household consumption in each region,\u201d she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Furthermore, the Minister underscored that according to Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021, the minimum wage is set based on areas, namely the UMP and the UMK.
