(Photo by: BPMI of Presidential Secretariat\/Muchlis Jr)<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Considering that COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated the fragility of global health resilience in all countries, President Joko &#8220;Jokowi&#8221; Widodo has called for the need to find a permanent solution to the related problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">According to the President, the current collaboration with the Covax Facility only serves as a temporary solution and the World Health Organization&#8217;s role has not covered strategic matters for the life of the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0&#8220;In the future, we need a permanent solution so that the world can deal with unexpected health issues,&#8221; the President said during a dialogue with Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab on a virtual event with theme &#8220;World Economic Forum: State of the World Address&#8221;, Thursday (01\/20).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In a bid to realize this, Indonesia will encourage the strengthening of global health resilience system architecture organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the financial sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">President Jokowi also underscored that global health resilience would be one of Indonesia&#8217;s concerns in the G20 Presidency.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cIt is the IMF duty to raise global health resources, including for the financing of world health emergencies, purchasing vaccines, purchasing medicines, and purchasing medical devices. Then, it [the IMF] must also set global health protocol standards, including regulating cross-border travel so that all countries have the same health protocol standards; and empowering developing countries in terms of local manufacturing capacity, including managing patents, access to technology, as well as investing in production of medical devices and medicines,&#8221; he explained.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Furthermore, the Head of State conveyed that joint financing is essential to build a new architecture for global health resilience system.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The funds, he said, are clearly far smaller than the world&#8217;s losses due to the fragility of global health system as is happening in the face of the current pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cDeveloped countries should have no objections to supporting this joint initiative.
