Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi had a discussion before joining the Limited Meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday (04\/05)<\/p><\/div>\n

In a bid to provide protection to workers\/laborers and boost national economic recovery, the Government Wednesday (04\/06) has announced that it will return to roll out Wage Subsidy Program for Workers\/Laborers (BSU) in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BSU not only aims to protect, maintain workers\/laborers\u2019 economic capabilities, but also to improve communities\u2019 purchasing power so that it will boost economic growth,\u201d Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said.<\/p>\n

The Minister further said that the trend of COVID-19 positive cases as well as mortality rate caused by COVID-19 in Indonesia have lowered significantly. However, she added, impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on economies are still not over yet, adding that, the global geopolitical situation due to tensions between Russia and Ukraine has triggered an increase in global commodity prices and inflation, which also affected communities\u2019 purchasing power, national economic recovery, and employment conditions.<\/p>\n

For the record, Ministry of Manpower had previously distributed the BSU in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the BSU was prioritized for workers\/laborers who earned a wage of less than Rp5 million. In 2021, the BSU was prioritized for workers\/laborers who were affected by the implementation of the Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level 3 and 4 policy and who were earned a wage of less than Rp3.5 million.<\/p>\n

While in 2022, the Government planned to distribute the BSU to workers \/ laborers who earn a wage of less than Rp3.5 million. The database of BSU recipients is collected from the database of the Workers Social Security Agency, according to Ida.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government will allocate Rp8.8 trillion for the BSU. Every recipient will receive Rp1 million. The further detailed criteria and mechanism of the 2022 BSU distribution are being evaluated, reviewed by Ministry of Manpower,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Ida also said that Ministry of Manpower is currently preparing all policy instruments for the implementation of the 2022 BSU so that the program can be run quickly, on target, accurately, and responsibly.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister, quick means that the BSU can be immediately optimized by workers\/ laborers. On target means that the recipients of the BSU meet the requirements. Accurate means that the BSU distribution is based on the accountable data. And responsible means that the BSU distribution is carried out properly.
