(Photo by: BPMI Vice Presidential Secretariat)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Almost 90 percent of business actors in the creative economy sector do not yet have intellectual property protection, according to Vice President Ma&#8217;ruf Amin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, collaboration, synergy schemes, as well as alignment of intellectual property policies and national development agenda\u2019s achievement need to be translated into concrete actions,\u201d the Vice President said at the 2022 World Intellectual Property Day at the Vice Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (04\/26).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, one of the measures that can be put into action is to create the National Intellectual Property Strategy to boost economic growth and support national development through intellectual property ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the commitment to develop micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially in the innovation sector, he added, must also be strengthened so that the MSMEs would scale-up since they play an active role in contributing to post-pandemic economic recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that at least 20 percent of the 64 million MSMEs in Indonesia can have their intellectual property protected,\u201d Ma\u2019ruf said, adding that the if MSMEs can have their product patented, they will boost the people&#8217;s confidence in Indonesian-made products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to invite all Indonesian people, especially the youth, to continue to rise as creative, innovative, and inspiring people for Advanced Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly underscored that the youth play an important role in building the national economy since they are exposed to technology from an early age.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope young inventors, creators, and entrepreneurs can use their intellectual property rights to achieve their goals of pooling income, creating jobs, responding to local and global challenges, and following the development of national communications,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, there are four awardees of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Award on the event, namely:<br \/>\n1. Elvianto, in category of WIPO Medal for Investors<br \/>\n2. Purwacaraka, in category of WIPO Medal for Creativity<br \/>\n3. Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM, in category of WIPO IP Enterprise Medal.<br \/>\n4.
