Ahead of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has announced the target to build Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) in Jakarta with the completion set in Decemberthis year.<\/p>\n

“Contractually, it should be completed by March 2023, but it will be completed sooner, hopefully, in December 2022. We hope that with the construction of this stadium, the quality of GBK will be better and greener,” Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono stated as quoted from the Ministry’s official website, Monday (07\/11).<\/p>\n

Until early July 2022, Basuki added, the stadium, which has been in construction since December 2021, has reached construction progress of 32 percent or 3.3 percent faster than the plan.<\/p>\n

In addition to supporting the 2023 FIBA \u200b\u200bBasketball World Cup, the construction of basketball sports facilities and infrastructure is also part of the Government’s support for coaching athletes to excel internationally, he added.<\/p>\n

“At the SEA Games, the basketball team has already won. After we have this stadium, we must also further improve our achievements. So, the key performance indicator must be the achievement,” the Minister said.<\/p>\n

The Minister also expressed hope that the stadium will be maintained and utilized as well as possible to foster the achievements of Indonesia\u2019s athletes.<\/p>\n

“Why is the concept multifunctional? So, it can be used for concerts or sports. Earlier, it was stated that it is equipped with telescopic tribune technology. It is in the middle of the city with dense greenery and ample parking. So, the concept of multifunctionality is appropriate so it can self-finance its maintenance,” he remarked.<\/p>\n

For the record, the stadium is built in an area of 31,826 square meters and a building footprint of 21,304 square meters with a capacity that can accommodate 16,088 spectators.<\/p>\n

By design, the stadium has five floors with one main basketball court and two practice courts.\u00a0 The construction of this stadium is carried out<\/span> by<\/span> using<\/span> a<\/span> Building Information Modelling (BIM) framework or industry 4.0-based construction technology.
