(Photo by: PR of Bank Indonesia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Government and central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) on Thursday (08\/18) launched the 2022 Rupiah banknotes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The seven denominations of new Rupiah banknotes were issued as the legal tender in the entire region of the Republic of Indonesia to commemorate the 77<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Indonesian independence on the 17<sup>th<\/sup> of August 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Minister of Finance and I have officially launched the 2022 banknotes as the legal tender in the entire region of the Republic of Indonesia,&#8221; Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The seven denominations of the 2022 banknotes are Rp100,000, Rp50,000, Rp20,000, Rp10,000, Rp5,000, Rp2,000 and Rp1,000. The 2022 banknotes retain the same images of national heroes on the obverse side, complete with cultural themes of Indonesia (traditional dances, natural landscapes and flora) on the reverse side, as that of the 2016 edition notes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;[The new banknotes] serve as the legal tender in the entire region of the Republic of Indonesia and aim to strengthen the unity of the Republic,&#8221; Perry said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new banknotes boast three innovative aspects, namely a sharper colour palette, more reliable security features and greater durability.\u00a0 The innovations ensure that genuine Rupiah banknotes are easier to identify, more convenient and safer to use and more difficult to counterfeit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;[The new banknotes] are more difficult to counterfeit so that Rupiah currency will be more reliable and become our pride and a symbol of the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,&#8221; Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The issuance and circulation of the 2022 banknotes are part of the implementation of the Currency Law and aim to meet public demand for currency in 2022, while maintaining good governance in accordance with the Law.\u00a0The new banknotes do not, however, impact the validity of existing rupiah banknotes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;All Rupiah banknotes and coins previously issued remain legal tender throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia until they are withdrawn from circulation by Bank Indonesia,\u201d Erwin said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In accordance with the Currency Law, the revocation and withdrawal of Rupiah must be stipulated in a State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia and announced through the mass media.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The public can exchange their banknote with the 2022 banknote in local banks or through mobile cash services provided by Bank Indonesia.\u00a0 The new banknotes are available for order through the PINTAR application, which can be accessed via https:\/\/pintar.bi.go.id.\u00a0 The new banknotes will be available to the public for order commencing the 18<sup>th<\/sup> of August 2022 at 11:00 Western Indonesia Time, with delivery starting on the 19<sup>th<\/sup> of August 2022.\u00a0 The exchange will be carried out while observing COVID-19 protocols set by the Government. <strong>(PR of Bank Indonesia\/UN) (RI\/MUR)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Government and central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) on Thursday (08\/18) launched the 2022 Rupiah banknotes.
