Cabinet Secretariat\u2019s Center for Government Translators and Interpreters Development holds a competency test for Indonesian government translators and interpreters held from August 21 to August 27.<\/p>\n

As many as 22 government translators and interpreters from central and regional government institutions take part in the test, which is held in the West Java city of Bogor.<\/p>\n

Deputy to Cabinet Secretary for Administrative Affairs Farid Utomo said that the competency test demonstrates Cabinet Secretariat\u2019s commitment to ensuring quality and professionalism of government translators and interpreters.<\/p>\n

\u201cCabinet Secretariat as the fostering agency of government translators and interpreters is obliged to ensure quality of translators and interpreters in accordance with the standard,\u201d Farid said in his written remarks read by Head of Center for Government Translators and Interpreters Development Sri Wahyu Utami.<\/p>\n

The measures taken to ensure quality of translators and interpreters, he added, are in line with the Government’s need to convey accurate and clear messages at the global level and to attract global investors.<\/p>\n

“Our challenge is to develop government translators and interpreters in languages other than English, including Arabic, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, French, and other languages,” he said.<\/p>\n

Prior to the competency test, Center for Government Translators and Interpreters Development held lectures on competency test materials, including on the Indonesian Language Grammar delivered by Setyo Untoro from the Center for Language and Literature Development of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.<\/p>\n

“The session is very useful as our preparation before the test,” said Ni Wayan Pering Muliawati, a participant from the Office of Communications, Informatics and Statistics, Provincial Government of Bali.<\/p>\n

Dinal Ferdian, another participant from Center for Analysis and Information Services, Secretariat General of Judicial Commission (KY), also expressed hope for taking part in the lectures.<\/p>\n
