President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo inspected the progress of Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway (KCJB) during his working visit in West Java province, on Thursday (10\/13). In his statement, the Head of State expressed hope that the KCJB project which has been 88,8 percent completed can increase mobility and competitiveness, and also create new economic centers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that the KCJB can increase and improve people and goods\u2019 mobility. Also, our competitiveness will be more strengthened, and new economic centers will emerge in Jakarta, Bandung, and also Bandung regency,\u201d President Jokowi said in his statement after the inspection in Tegalluar Station, the infrastructure zone of Indonesia-China high-speed railway company (PT KCIC), Bandung regency.<\/p>\n

In addition to domestic potentials, the Head of State also hopes that the KCJB project \u2500 the first high-speed railway in ASEAN \u2500\u00a0 can enhance connectivity among ASEAN countries. He mentioned that the plan is already incuded in the ASEAN master plan in order to boost the competitiveness in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been included in ASEAN master plan, so the connectivity among ASEAN countries can be realized in order to boost ASEAN\u2019s competitivenes,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

At the occasion, President Jokowi also emphasized that the KCJB project is a cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of China. Despite the issues that hinder the establishment of some tunnels, the President has targeted that the project will operate in the upcoming June.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe operational phase will be launched insya<\/em>allah<\/em> around \u00a0June 2023,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

The event was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, Regent of Bandung Dadang Supriatna, Executive Director of PT KCIC Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, and Ambassador of the People\u2019s Republic of China to the Republic of Indonesia Lu Kang.
