President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo met with Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee on the sidelines of the APEC Summit at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand, Friday (11\/18).<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the President raised three main concerns namely trade cooperation, investment, and protection for Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see a lot of potential that can be worked on, especially with Hong Kong, to create a balanced trade cooperation. Access to Indonesian products can be expanded, including access to fish products, processed foods, and spices,” the President said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the President also said that Hong Kong has the potential to become an entry point for Indonesian exports to Mainland China.<\/p>\n

In the investment sector, President Jokowi invited Hong Kong investors, as one of Indonesia’s largest investment sources, to support the development of IKN (New Capital of Nusantara) as a Green City.<\/p>\n

“Hong Kong investors can participate in developing infrastructure, transportation, green energy, digital transformation, and value-added industries,” he said.<\/p>\n

On the issue of protecting Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the assistance and facilities provided for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Hong Kong, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, John Lee congratulated Indonesia on the success of Indonesia in organizing the G20 Summit. In addition, Hong Kong will also be committed to further enhancing its cooperation with Indonesia.
