During his working visit to Pontianak city, West Kalimantan province, President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Tuesday (11\/29) underscored that diverse ethnic groups is an important capital for Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cDifferences do not need to be divisive. Differences are our strength. Differences will not weaken instead it strengthens us. We should not be divided just because we\u2019re coming from different ethnicities or sub ethnic groups. In fact, diversity is our strength,\u201d he said when opened Bahaupm Bide Bahana customary ceremony which is a gathering of Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (Dayak traditional troops), at Rumah Radakng, Pontianak city, West Kalimantan province, Tuesday (11\/29).<\/p>\n

The President added that there are 714 ethnic groups in Indonesia. Dayak, as an ethnic group, has 406 sub ethnic groups. Therefore, he invited the people to uphold and preserve each culture.<\/p>\n

In addition, he also invited all to maintain stability and security of the country since Indonesia will hold general elections next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of ethnic groups, 714 ethnic groups. Do not cause a friction in the upcoming political year. Everyone should maintain stability and security. This country must be secure so that the Government can maintain and increase our economic growth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the people of Kalimantan, particularly Dayak ethnic group, for their support in the development of New Capital of Nusantara (IKN) since the support is really needed by the Government.
