The rehabilitation of houses damaged by a 5.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Cianjur regency in West Java province is expected to be finished in June-July 2023, according to Head of the National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) Suharyanto.<\/p>\n

The Head of the BNPB stated that model earthquake-proof houses is a scheme to rehabilitate houses damaged by the quake on November 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are two schemes. First, if the house owners can afford to rehabilitate their houses on their own, the process will be supervised so that the houses will be earthquake-proof. Second, if they want the Government to rehabilitate it, it will be managed by the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and a third party. There are model houses. Several model houses have been built and the one that will be inspected by the President is in Yonif 300 Raider,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The model house has a river stone foundation and CNP steel structure covered with mortar. The walls are made of light bricks, which were then plastered and painted. Light steel is used for door jambs and the roof structure.<\/p>\n

Previously, similar earthquake-proof houses have also been built in North Luwu regency in South Sulawesi province.<\/p>\n

The Head of the BPNB pointed out that assistance for rehabilitating the people\u2019s houses damaged by the earthquake will be disbursed in five stages, adding that the rehabilitation is expected to be finished in June-July 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on our prediction, there will be five stages. We will continuously update the data until all names and addresses are clear. We will continue to get the Ministry of Finance to approve the budget to be disbursed to the people. The BNPB has made a timeline for damaged house rehabilitation, especially for the people. We hope that all damaged houses will have been rehabilitated by June or July 2023,\u201d he said.
