In a bid to anticipate the surge in people’s mobility during this year’s Christmas and New Year holidays, President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Monday (12\/19) ordered related ministries to ensure traffic management and the availability of fuel and staple foods.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be a potential movement of 44 million people during this year\u2019s Christmas and New Year\u2019s Eve,\u201d President Jokowi said in his opening remarks during the limited cabinet meeting on the readiness of Christmas 2022 and New Year\u2019s Eve 2023 at the Presidential Office, Jakarta.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy stated that the peak of homecoming traffic for Christmas is predicted to be December 23-24 and December 30-31 for the New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for return traffic of Christmas holidays, it is on December 25-26 and it\u2019s January 1-2, 2023 for the new year\u2019s holiday,\u201d Muhadjir added.<\/p>\n

Citing the President\u2019s directive, Muhadjir stated that related stakeholders must ensure that Christmas and New Year celebrations can run in an orderly and safe manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn general, ministries\/institutions are ready to carry out the President\u2019s orders, be it Ministry of Transportation, the National Police, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Trade, state-owned oil and gas company PT. Pertamina.
