President Jokowi Tuesday (02\/07) delivers a press statement at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.<\/p><\/div>\n

President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo underscored the Government\u2019s continuous commitment to corruption eradication.<\/p>\n

The President also underlined that he cannot tolerate in the slightest the perpetrators of corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to remind the ranks of law enforcers to enforce the law as fairly as possible, without discrimination and partiality,\u201d the President stated during a press statement at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (02\/07).<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also stated that the Government has and will continue to pursue and confiscate the assets of the uncooperative Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) obligors. In addition, the law enforcers have taken firm actions against several mega-corruption cases, such as the Asabri and Jiwasraya cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government will not interfere the efforts to law enforcement. And, the law enforcers should be professional and act in accordance with applicable law,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, all ranks of central and regional governments were reminded to continue to improve the government administration and public service systems, which prioritize transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreventive measures are also continuously taken by establishing transparent and accountable government and public services system. The Government continues to develop electronic-based government system, Online Single Submission licensing system, and goods and services procurement system through e-Catalogs,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

The President also pushed for the Bill on Confiscation of Assets in Criminal Acts to be promulgated immediately.\u00a0Furthermore, he also pushed for the discussion of the Bill on Restrictions on Currency Transactions to begin shortly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of interstate relations, during the Indonesia\u2019s G20 Presidency, the summit has agreed that the priority agenda on corruption eradication will continue and as the Chair of ASEAN, Indonesia will strengthen its commitment to eradicating corruption and upholding law in the region,” he said.<\/p>\n

In a bid to make improvements, the Government also continues to closely follow various surveys, including the Indonesian Democracy Index, the Corruption Perceptions Index, the Rule of Law Index, and the\u00a0Global Competitiveness Index.<\/p>\n
