President Jokowi Thursday (05\/11) delivers a press statement in Labuan Bajo, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State Secretary.<\/p><\/div>\n

Concluding the 42nd<\/sup> ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province on May 10-11, ASEAN Member States have produced three points of agreement.<\/p>\n

First<\/em>, ASEAN leaders should pay close attention to matters pertaining to the interests of the people, including protection for migrant workers and victims of human trafficking.<\/p>\n

“Matters relevant to the interests of the people are an important concern for the leaders, including protection for migrant workers and victims of human trafficking. I\u2019d like to invite ASEAN countries to take a firm action against the main perpetrators,” Indonesian President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo said in a press conference in Labuan Bajo, Thursday (05\/11).<\/p>\n

Second<\/em>, ASEAN leaders should also pay attention to the conflict resolution in Myanmar.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also underscored that violation of humanitarian values cannot be tolerated, adding that ASEAN should involve all stakeholders according to the Five-Point Consensus.<\/p>\n

\u201cInclusivity must be strongly held by ASEAN as its credibility is at stake,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President added that Indonesia is ready to talk to anyone including the Myanmar military junta and all stakeholders in Myanmar for humanitarian interests.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to stress that the engagement is not a recognition. To engage does not mean to recognize\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also underlined the importance of ASEAN unity to prevent other parties from disintegrating it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere should be no parties inside or outside ASEAN who capitalize on the internal conflict in Myanmar. Violence must stop and the people must be protected,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Third<\/em>, on strengthening economic cooperation, the President stated that the ASEAN leaders agreed to develop an ecosystem for EVs and to become an integral part of the global supply chain. In this regard, the downstream industry is the key.<\/p>\n

ASEAN leaders also agreed to promote the implementation of local currency transactions and digital payment connectivity between countries.<\/p>\n
