Cabinet Secretariat this week organized the fifth batch of interpreter training for government interpreters from a number of institutions across the country.<\/p>\n

The training was held online on May 10-17, 2023 with twenty participants taking part in it.<\/p>\n

According to Deputy to Cabinet Secretary for Administrative Affairs Farid Utomo in his written remarks at the opening of the training, Cabinet Secretariat recognizes the crucial role that interpreters play in assisting the Government\u2019s tasks both at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

To that end, he added that Cabinet Secretariat organizes interpreting training annually with the aim of producing qualified, reliable, and professional government interpreters.<\/p>\n

Cabinet Secretariat itself is a government institution in Indonesia in charge of managing and developing government translators and interpreters.<\/p>\n

\u201cHigh-level events call for support from various parties, including interpreters. Interpreters play a pivotal role in bridging communication gap between languages and culture,\u201d Farid said, adding that interpreters\u2019 role is more important than ever as Indonesia continues to have a stronger presence in relations with the international communities and communication technology and information systems continue to advance.<\/p>\n

Farid also cited the example of Indonesia that has successfully organized several important international events, including last year\u2019s G20 Summit in Bali and the recent 42nd<\/sup> ASEAN Summit in East Nusa Tenggara in which government interpreters play an important role.<\/p>\n

Farid also appealed to interpreters who have completed the training to be prepared for future assignments.<\/p>\n

For the record, the training covers materials including basic interpreting skills, sight translation methods, techniques in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, as well as other related materials. Experts and academicians in interpreting are also invited to become instructors at the training.<\/p>\n
