On the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Japan, Indonesian President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Sunday (05\/21) at the Grand Prince Hotel in Hiroshima, Japan held a bilateral meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

It was the President\u2019s second meeting with the Ukrainian President after the President\u2019s visit to Ukraine in June last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Zelenskyy, I continue to follow the developments of the situation in Ukraine. My deepest condolences for the victims of the ongoing conflict,\u201d President Jokowi said, adding that Indonesia continues to support efforts to restore peace in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndonesia is ready to be a bridge for peace,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In response to that, President Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for Indonesia\u2019s role in achieving peace in his country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember your visit to Ukraine. You\u2019ve been one of the first of many in Ukraine during such tough periods. Thank you very much. We\u2019ll never forget it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The two leaders also talked about food issues, which have previously been discussed in Kyiv.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also reinforced Indonesia\u2019s commitment to contributing to the rehabilitation of a hospital in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Indonesian Government continues to coordinate with the World Bank and Ministry of Health of Ukraine on this matter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The G7 Summit is an international forum held annually for leaders of the G7 member states of France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada (in order of rotating presidency), and the European Union (EU).<\/p>\n
