President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo and President of Brazil Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, on Saturday (05\/20) at Rihga Royal Hotel, Hiroshima, Japan, held a bilateral meeting to enhance cooperations on common issues.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the two heads of state expressed belief that the relations between Indonesia and Brazil would improve further in the future.<\/p>\n

The main issue discussed at the meeting was regarding partnership efforts in the forestry sector. Indonesia and Brazil are home to large tropical forests. Therefore, solidity was needed among countries with forests. This included inviting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and other countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than 30 percent of tropical forests are owned by Indonesia, Brazil, and DRC,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

Other issues were regarding cooperation in dealing with climate change and cooperation in livestock development and meat procurement for Indonesia. The two leaders expected the commitment of developed countries to provide climate change fund. President Da Silva also expected that President Jokowi could pay a visit to Brazil.<\/p>\n
