President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Tuesday (06\/27) launched a program for Non-Judicial Settlement of Gross Human Rights Violations in Rumoh Geudong in Pidie regency, Aceh province.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, victims and families of victims applauded the program initiated by the Government.<\/p>\n

Saburan, a representative of families of victims of gross human rights violations in Jambo Keupok in Aceh that happened on May 17, 2003, expressed gratitude for this program launched by President Jokowi.<\/p>\n

“I, representing all heirs of families of victims of the Jambo Keupok tragedy, would like to express my deepest gratitude to President Jokowi for acknowledging the tragedy we experienced as a gross human rights violations by launching a program for human rights reparations through non-judicial manner. On behalf of the families of victims, we accept the non-judicial settlement of gross human rights violations wholeheartedly,” he said.<\/p>\n

Saburan also expressed his hope that the program would directly provide benefit for victims and families of victims of gross human rights violations, while underscoring that the compensations provided by the Government must be thoroughly distributed based on a reliable data.<\/p>\n

Echoing the same sentiment, Samsul Bahri, a victim of the Simpang KKA tragedy in Aceh that occurred on May 3, 1999, expressed his hope that the Government would also continue to pursue judicial settlements in addition to non-judicial settlements of gross human rights violations.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Fauzinur Hamzah, a representative of families of victims of the Rumoh Geudong tragedy in Aceh that occured in 1998, expressed her hope that by implementing the program, there would be no more conflicts in the country. \u00a0(BPMI of Presidential Secretariat\/UN) (AP\/MMB)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
