President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has designated July 24 as the National Kebaya Day.<\/p>\n

The decision is stipulated in Decree of President of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 19 of 2023 on the National Kebaya Day.<\/p>\n

“July 24 is designated as the National Kebaya Day,” the First Dictum of the Presidential Decree reads.<\/p>\n

The Second Dictum stipulates that the National Kebaya Day is not a public holiday.<\/p>\n

“The Presidential Decree comes into force as of the date of its issuance,” the Third Dictum reads.<\/p>\n

The Decree was issued by President Jokowi on August 4, 2023 and can be accessed on the Cabinet Secretariat’s JDIH website.<\/p>\n

The Presidential Decree also states the following consideration:<\/p>\n

First, the kebaya has become a national identity that unites the nation.<\/p>\n

Second, the kebaya has become a special attire at the national and global events.<\/p>\n

Third, all participants of the 10th<\/sup> Indonesian Women’s Congress in 1964 wore kebaya.<\/p>\n
