President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Wednesday (08\/09) urged property business actors to pay attention to the gap between the total number of houses built and the total number of houses needed by the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cHouse demands in the country are very high since the backlog of house ownership is still at 12.1 million. This is an opportunity that can be realized by all Indonesian Real Estate members,\u201d President Jokowi said at the opening of the 17th<\/sup> National Conference of the Indonesian Real Estate in Jakarta.<\/p>\n

According to the President, the opportunity to provide housing for the people is immense because the growth of new family heads reaches 800,000 per year.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease also pay attention to social and environmental impacts. This is important. Please prevent the well water of neighboring village to run dry or even becomes flooded after the residential area construction is finished,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi also expressed hope that Indonesia can build cities that have their own uniqueness and characteristics and that the Indonesian Real Estate can formulate the plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our country, almost all cities are same, without differentiation. Why can\u2019t we develop a city as a city of corn with all the amenities, a city of fish, a city of furniture, a city of golf, just like in the United States.
