President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (08\/19) inspected Sukaramai Market in Medan city, North Sumatra province, to monitor the price of staple food.<\/p>\n

After the inspection, the President said that he was pleased that the prices of basic commodities, such as shallots and eggs, in the market were relatively under control.<\/p>\n

“I observe that the prices are very good, such as shallots, which are very cheap at Rp24,000, and eggs, which I have previously asked at Rp22,000-Rp27,000. They are also very cheap,” the President said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the President also expressed appreciation for the mobile market program carried out by the regional government to reduce the inflation rate in North Sumatra province, especially Medan city.<\/p>\n

“I am glad that there is also a mobile market, a mobile cheap market, which I think can reduce prices for rice, oil, and sugar. This is a good program to lower inflation in the city or in the province,” the President added.<\/p>\n

Regarding El Ni\u00f1o, the President said that the Government has adopted several measures to mitigate the impact of the El Ni\u00f1o phenomenon.<\/p>\n
