Indonesia’s emerging generation holds the potential to become a formidable force that masters the development of science and technology and has a noble character, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.<\/p>\n

“I called on the young generation to learn, master, and develop science and technology and make the most of it for the sake of people’s welfare,” the President said at the opening of the 2023 Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM) Conference, at the Multipurpose Building of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra province, Saturday (08\/19).<\/p>\n

According to the President, the global landscape is already experiencing the impact of technological disruption, particularly in the realm of digital technology.<\/p>\n

“Everything is becoming digital now. Even most restaurants are using QR codes for their menus. People can just digitally visit marketplaces to shop or get a ride through certain platforms. They could also make the payment digitally using QRIS. That is why smartphones hold significant importance in the present era,” he said.<\/p>\n

The President went on to say that the rapid development of digital technology has also brought about the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which is sophisticated with generative AI features that are capable of producing digital products based on data learning.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor instance, I think we are all familiar with ChatGPT. We could just ask anything and it will give answers. We could ask it to do an analysis, prepare material, assignments, work on papers, or even do a thesis,” he added.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President also expressed hope that the IPM cadres will become figures who could serve as role models for a progressive and virtuous Muslim generation.<\/p>\n

“I hope Muhammadiyah students can set an example, be a progressive Muslim generation who have a great mastery of science and technology, and at the same time have morals, good manners and a great mentality.
