President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo on Thursday (08\/24) held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Democratic Republic of the Congo Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde at the Sandton Convention Center, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa.<\/p>\n

“Indonesia and Congo have the largest tropical forest in the world. Cooperation between the two countries is important for developing the economic value of forest and tackling climate change. I hope we can further enhance our cooperation,” the President said.<\/p>\n

The President went on to say that Indonesia is ready to share its experience in terms of peat land conservation and sustainable forest management.<\/p>\n

“I hope we can boost cooperation in forest management and development of potential carbon credit. Indonesia is ready to share its experience regarding peat conservation and bio-economic development as well as sustainable forest management,” the President said.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, the two leaders also discussed the development of downstream industries.<\/p>\n

“Indonesia is ready to share experience and expertise regarding the downstream ecosystem and will encourage Indonesia\u2019s State-Owned Enterprises to be involved in exploration and investment,” the President said.<\/p>\n
