As part of his working visit in China, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin Friday (09\/15) met Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, Zhou Zuyi.<\/p>\n

“Fujian Province is the entry point for Indonesian products in China, including through the Two Countries Twin Parks (TCTP) cooperation,” the Vice President said.<\/p>\n

According to the Vice President, Fuqing Yuanhong International Food Industrial Park area could become an entry point for the development of trade in food and beverage products.<\/p>\n

Ma’ruf Amin also said that the second key to strengthening the cooperation is investment.<\/p>\n

He also expressed hope that Fujian Provincial Government can encourage the realization of investment by Fujian business players, especially for strategic sectors in Indonesia such as electric vehicle batteries for the CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited) in the green economy sector.<\/p>\n

“I also encourage Fujian companies to invest in three Indonesian industrial areas, namely Batang, Semarang and Bintan as part of the Two Countries Twin Parks (TCTP) partnership,” the Vice President said.<\/p>\n

The Vice President also said that people-to-people relations between Fujian and Indonesia is crucial.<\/p>\n

“I hope that the Fujian Provincial Government can encourage educational cooperation by providing more scholarships for Indonesian students and enhance vocational education cooperation to support Chinese investment in Indonesia,” the Vice President remarked.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People’s Congress Zhou Zuyi said that the TCTP is a very important project for Indonesia and China and has received more attention from the two heads of state.<\/p>\n

Through this joint agreement, he added, several Chinese companies have made strategic investments in Indonesia, some with value of up to US$21.4 billion.<\/p>\n

Zhou Zuyi also expressed hope that Indonesia and China will continue to develop strategic projects that focus on several important industrial sectors such as agriculture, machinery, electronics, and green mining.<\/p>\n

“The regional government of Fujian Province and the Central Government are working hand in hand to develop an excellent scheme to support infrastructure development to boost economic and trade cooperation between Indonesia and Fujian,” he said, adding that Indonesia and Fujian will develop cooperation in the maritime and fisheries sector and strengthen people to people relations.<\/p>\n

\u201cFujian Province has maintained good relations with Central Java Province for twenty years. Apart from that, we have also established several sister city programs with the cities of Semarang, Surabaya, Malang, and Palembang,” he remarked.
