President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, on Tuesday (10\/17).<\/p>\n

During the meeting, President Jokowi brought four key areas for collaboration, including investment cooperation and community cooperation. They are as follows:<\/p>\n

First<\/em>, President Jokowi highlighted efforts to boost investment cooperation, particularly in electric vehicle (EV) and automotive battery production, spare parts factories, petrochemical refineries, steel manufacturing, and the development of Halal Center cooperation.<\/p>\n

The President also encouraged further cooperation in the development of “Two Countries, Twin Parks” economic corridor.<\/p>\n

“I hope that China can be a strategic partner for the development of the Nusantara Capital,” the President said.<\/p>\n

Second<\/em>, the President expressed his appreciation for the continued growth of balanced bilateral trade and finance.<\/p>\n

“Moving forward, we need to push for protocol updates and an increase in the import quota for swallow’s nests, as well as expand the list of export products to include fisheries, agriculture, and tropical fruits,” he added.<\/p>\n

Regarding financial cooperation, the President would provide support for the plan to establish local currency transactions via cross-border QR codes to facilitate export-import and investment.<\/p>\n

Third<\/em>, related to energy security, President Jokowi revealed that Indonesia is actively accelerating the addition of 60GW of new renewable energy (EBT) generators by 2040.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President sought China’s support in implementing Indonesia-China collaborative efforts in the electricity sector since the cooperation holds the potential for further enhancement between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Fourth<\/em>, the President pointed out several measures to increase tourism from both countries, including improving the frequency of direct flights between Indonesia and China and expanding scholarship opportunities and vocational training for Indonesian students.<\/p>\n

“It is also essential to improve the capacity of Indonesian village heads to promote village cooperation,” he said.<\/p>\n

In addition, the two leaders also exchanged views on the current global situation, including the situation in Gaza.<\/p>\n
