President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo on Tuesday (11\/11) confirmed Indonesia\u2019s tremendous support for the efforts made by the King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein to promote peace towards an independent\u00a0Palestine.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupporting King Abdullah’s efforts\u00a0to push for political breakthrough to promote peace towards an independent\u00a0Palestine,\u201d President Jokowi said during a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Extraordinary Summit, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center (KAICC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

The President added that Indonesia and Jordan share the same stance in fighting for the independence of Palestine based on two-state solution.<\/p>\n

He added that Jordan is the official custodian of Muslim and Christian holy places in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, Indonesia is one of the co-sponsors of the UN General Assembly Resolution \u201cProtection of Civilians and Upholding Legal and Humanitarian Obligations\u201d which was adopted on October 27, 2023 in New York.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, President Jokowi told King Abdullah it is important for the OIC to unite to find solutions and generate concrete measures to fix the situation in Gaza. Ceasefire must be implemented, and humanitarian corridor must be opened immediately.<\/p>\n
