The Government has started reforestation activities in the Nusantara Capital (IKN), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said.<\/p>\n

The President added that it aims to build a tropical rainforest in the Nusantara Capital with diversified plants.<\/p>\n

“The reforestation is in order for us to build a tropical rainforest, from a monoculture one to a tropical rainforest, from only eucalyptus to various types of trees and plants as we see now,” The President said in his statement after a tree-planting activity alongside the community and students at the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) Forest and Land Rehabilitation site, in the Nusantara Capital, Penajam Paser Utara regency, East Kalimantan province, Wednesday (12\/20).<\/p>\n

In addition, President Jokowi highlighted that the Nusantara Capital is built with forest city concept. He said that the development in the Nusantara must prioritize greening initiatives, starting from the land area to the building construction.<\/p>\n

Regarding the reforestation in the National Axis area, President Jokowi stated that the plants are meant to decorate the area around the Presidential Palace.<\/p>\n

“Earlier, in the palace environment, the plants are aesthetically pleasing such as trumpet trees, jacaranda, and royal poinciana,” he said.<\/p>\n

The President then said that after the completion of the reforestation in the Nusantara Capital area, similar activities will be carried out outside the area.<\/p>\n
