Indonesia is set to host the 10th<\/sup> World Water Forum (WWF), which will take place in the resort island of Bali on May 18-24, 2024.<\/p>\n

According to Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati, the event will be attended by around 30,000 – 50,000 participants from around the world and Indonesia is the first Southeast Asian country to become the host.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be 244 sessions attended by approximately 30,000 \u2013 50,000 participants. This is slightly bigger than the participants at the Conference of the Parties or COP,” Dwikorita said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (02\/27).<\/p>\n

According to her, this forum will feature three components of the thematic process, the regional process and the political process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thematic process is related to science from climate, water, food, energy, and health. It will also be discussed from the political point of view so that the results can be implemented in society. There will also be discussions on regional processes based on best practices in regions throughout the world so it is hoped that the output of these discussions will be easier to execute, turning into policies for countries,” she said.<\/p>\n

In this forum, Dwikorita added, Indonesia is also pushing for ministerial declarations regarding water resources, climate, food, energy, and health and is also encouraging the establishment of a Center of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience.<\/p>\n

“After holding the 10th<\/sup> World Water Forum, Indonesia will coordinate the Center of Excellence. So, the alliance of centers that already exist in the Asia Pacific or in the world will coordinate with Indonesia. This is one of the goals that we aim to achieve,” she said.<\/p>\n

WWF is the largest international meeting involving stakeholders in the water resources sector, ranging from political leaders, governments, multilateral institutions, politicians, academics, civil society, business actors, and so on.<\/p>\n

The forum has been held every three years since 1997.<\/p>\n

The 10th<\/sup> WWF carries six main sub-themes, including water security and prosperity; water for humans and nature; disaster risk reduction and management; governance, cooperation, and hydro-diplomacy; sustainable water finance; and knowledge and innovation.
