President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo, on Wednesday (02\/28) after attending the 2024 TNI (Indonesian National Defense Forces) – Polri (Indonesian National Police) Leadership Meeting at the TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, delivered a statement to media crew that the bestowal of the special TNI rank to Minister of Defense Lieutenant General (retired) Prabowo Subianto was in compliance with Law Number 20 of 2009 on Titles, Order of Merit, and Honors.<\/p>\n

“The bestowal of the rank has gone through verification from the Titles, Order of Merit and Honors Council, and the implications of receiving this star award are in accordance with Law Number 20 of 2009,” said the President.<\/p>\n

The Head of State said that the award should have been conferred two years ago for Prabowo Subianto’s services in the defense sector.<\/p>\n

“We all know that in 2022 Mr. Prabowo Subianto received an award called Bintang Yudha Dharma Utama for his services in the defense sector which contributed extraordinarily to the progress of TNI and Indonesia,” explained the President.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, President Jokowi explained that his approval to the bestowal of the special rank of Honorary TNI General came after it was proposed by the TNI Commander.<\/p>\n

“The TNI Commander proposed that Mr. Prabowo be given a special appointment and promotion and thus, everything started from the bottom. Based on the TNI Commander’s proposal, I agreed to grant a special promotion in the form of an Honorary TNI General,” said the President.<\/p>\n

For your information, in addition to Prabowo Subianto, a number of figures have previously received the rank of Honorary TNI General, including the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
