Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy\/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno expressed belief that Indonesia’s presence at India Gaming Show (IGS) 2024 will encourage the development of the national game industry, as mandated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 19 of 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“India\u2019s game market itself is projected to reach US$5 billion in 2025 and India Gaming Show 2024 provides an opportunity for Indonesian game developers to expand their reach, especially with India,” said Sandi, as quoted from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy website, Thursday (03\/21).<\/p>\n

Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, M Neil El Himam, said that the types of games that are in demand in the Indian market are platform role playing games (RPG), action games, massive multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG), horror survival games, and sports games.<\/p>\n

“India’s policy of limiting access to game products from China also opens up huge opportunities that can be optimized by Indonesian game companies through both B2B [business-to-business] model and B2C [business-to-consumer] model,” said Neil.<\/p>\n

Echoing the same statement, Director of Applications, Games, Television and Radio at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Iman Santosa, said that Indonesia’s involvement is certainly a matter of pride and proof that local Indonesian game developers are ready to be involved in the global game industry.<\/p>\n

“We hope that Indonesia’s participation as a guest country will produce many business collaboration opportunities and of course can continue to produce more game industry collaboration for Indonesia and India in the future,” said Iman.<\/p>\n

Adding to what Iman said, Advisor to the Indonesian Game Developers Association (AGI), Ami Raditya, explained that Indonesia and India have many similarities, especially in cultural roots, so this is a very good niche for Indonesia\u2019s games to be accepted in India, and vice versa.<\/p>\n

“We believe that as two countries with very large population, the collaboration between Indonesia and India can become a new axis of strength for the game industry in the world,” said Ami.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Indonesian Consul General in Mumbai, Edy Wardoyo, expressed the Indonesian Government’s commitment to increasing bilateral cooperation, including in the trade sector with India. India is one of Indonesia’s largest and most important trading partners.<\/p>\n

“The Indonesian Government is committed to continuously increasing its bilateral cooperation with India, especially in strengthening economic diplomacy in the trade, investment and creative industry sectors,” said Edy.<\/p>\n

Edy added that Indonesia’s participation is also part of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India.<\/p>\n

“At Indian Gaming Show 2024, the Moba Counterstrike grand slam was also held, which was attended by one of the Indonesian teams, namely Garuda Wisnu. The match was watched by a virtual audience of around 100 thousand viewers on the first day (via the Skyesport channel),” said Edy.<\/p>\n

As a strategic step in strengthening its bilateral relations, Indonesia has participated as a country partner at India Gaming Show 2024 which took place in Pune, Maharashtra, from 14 to 16 March 2024. At this event, the Indonesian Pavilion presented four of the country’s leading game studios, namely Hexaplay, Anantarupa, Ginger Sun Studio, and Marica and AGI.<\/p>\n

One of the important achievements of this exhibition was the exchange of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) between Anantarupa studio and Jio Games for the exclusive licensing and publishing of Lokapala games in India through the Jio Games Ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ginger Sun Studio received an initial commitment for a publishing collaboration with Soft Source Publisher for the game “Unrivaled Heroes” worth US$ 40 thousand and Hexaplay studio is finalizing an NDA with Brinc Accelerator India for a publishing collaboration with the game Null Horizon.<\/p>\n

Hexaplay also received an intellectual property (IP) project indication to develop a derivative game from the Karthikeyan film series produced by its subsidiary Brinc Accelerator.
