In a bid to strengthen national infrastructure and support agricultural sector, President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo inspected Bulango Ulu Dam project in Bone Bolango regency, Gorontalo province on Monday (04\/22).<\/p>\n

The dam, which is one of the National Strategic Projects, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi expressed great optimism regarding the project that started in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be finished by the end of this year,\u201d said President Jokowi.<\/p>\n

The Bulango Ulu Dam is designed as a multifunctional dam that will not only meet raw water needs of 2,200 liters per second, but also has the potential to be a source of electric power with a capacity of 4.96 MW. This dam will also support irrigation for 4,950 hectares of agricultural area and play a critical role in controlling floods in the downstream area of the Bolango River by reducing flood discharge up to 414 cubic meters per second.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reservoir will increase agricultural and plantation productivity in Gorontalo and its surrounding areas as this reservoir is very large and can accommodate 84 million cubic meters [of water],\u201d explained the President.<\/p>\n

With construction costs reaching Rp2.42 trillion, this project has achieved physical progress of 48.4 percent as of April 2024. The pool area of this dam reaches 483 hectares, indicating the large scale of this project in an effort to secure and utilize water resources in the region, mainly in Gorontalo city, Gorontalo regency and Bone Bolango regency.<\/p>\n

The construction of the Bulango Ulu Dam is a symbol of the Government’s efforts to prioritize sustainable and multifunctional infrastructure development. This not only has a positive impact on food and water security, but also contributes to the use of renewable energy and more effective management of natural resources.
