President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Tuesday (04\/23) visited Kondosapata General Regional Hospital in Mamasa regency, West Sulawesi province to inspect its healthcare infrastructure and human resources.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the President inspected national health insurance BPJS Kesehatan\u2019s service counter, polyclinics such as ENT, internal medicine, surgical, neurology, and stunting clinics, and the unutilized second floor of the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe second and third floors are unused. The team of Minister of Public Works will visit to check what can be repaired,\u201d he said when asked about the hospital\u2019s infrastructure condition by the press.<\/p>\n

President Jokowi stated that he will push for the improvement of human resources, including by providing specialist education for doctors, as it is important to enhance the quality and quantity of human resources in Mamasa regency\u2019s healthcare service.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn terms of human resources, it lacks medical specialists. We will send some [doctors] to pursue specialist education so that the human resources here are prepared,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President added that after improving infrastructure and human resources, advanced medical equipment such as that for the cath lab, mammography, and CT scan would be integrated into the facilities, showing that the Government is taking a gradual approach to ensure infrastructure and human resources readiness prior to the procurement of expensive and advanced medical equipment.<\/p>\n

For the record, the inspection is part of the President\u2019s commitment to improving healthcare service quality across Indonesia, especially in regions that lack medical infrastructure and human resources.
