Following the dismissal of Chairperson of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy\u2019ari, President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo has stated that the Government respects the decision made by the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) on the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government honors the DKPP’s authority in reaching the decision,\u201d President Jokowi said in his press statement after visiting Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Sinjai regency, South Sulawesi, Thursday (07\/04).<\/p>\n

According to the President, the Government will constantly oversee the upcoming regional election process to ensure a fair and smooth democratic process for all Indonesian people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government will also ensure that the regional elections proceed smoothly, honestly, and fairly,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

On that occassion, the Head of State underscored that the documents related to the dismissal of the KPU Chairperson are still being processed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Presidential Decree has not reached my desk yet,\u201d the President remarked.<\/p>\n

For the record, DKPP found Hasyim Asy\u2019ari guilty of engaging in immoral acts toward a member of the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) in The Hague, Netherlands.<\/p>\n
