President Joko \u201cJokowi\u201d Widodo Friday (09\/06) visited Soponyono traditional market in the East Java provincial city of Surabaya.<\/p>\n

Following the visit, the President said that inflation rate, particularly for food prices, remains in check.<\/p>\n

\u201cI checked the price of several commodities such as shallots. It was above Rp40,000 but is now priced at Rp25,000. Egg is priced at Rp24,000,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President went on to say that during the visit he acknowledged drop in the prices of several food commodities, adding that the deflation observed over the past four months is due to adequate supply and good distribution.<\/p>\n
