President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (10\/20) underscored the importance of achieving food and energy self-sufficiency amid global uncertainty.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must achieve food security in the shortest possible time. We must be able to produce and meet food needs of all Indonesian people. There is no other way,\u201d President Prabowo said in his inaugural speech before members of the House of Representative at the Nusantara Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also expressed optimism that Indonesia will be able to achieve food self-sufficiency in the next four to five years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, we are ready to become the world\u2019s food barn,\u201d he said, adding that Indonesia will also use its natural resources, including water, palm oil, cassava, sugar cane, and sago, as well as geothermal and coal energy, to achieve energy self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n

Regarding people\u2019s welfare and the economy, President Prabowo highlighted the importance of on-target subsidy distribution by utilizing digital technology and downstream commodities to increase added value so that people can be more prosperous.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur children must all be able to eat nutritious food at least once a day. We will do that. We can do that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo also affirmed commitment to root out corruption through system improvements and strict law enforcement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a saying that says, \u2018a fish rots from the head down\u2019. All officials, be it echelon officials or their subordinates, must set an example to exercise the cleanest possible government leadership,\u201d the President concluded.
