Newly-inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto made his initial speech before a plenary session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (10\/20).<\/p>\n

In his speech, President Prabowo committed to leading Indonesia with full responsibility, to serving the country and the nation, and to prioritizing the interests of all the people of Indonesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will lead the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, lead the country and the nation of Indonesia with sincerity, by prioritizing the interests of all the people of Indonesia, including those who did not vote for us,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

The President highlighted domestic and external challenges faced by the Indonesian people. Despite abundant natural resources, Indonesia continues to face various obstacles and threats. However, the President emphasized the importance of bravery in facing these challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cI invite all of you, especially the leaders among scholars, clerics, businessmen, political leaders, youth, and students, to stand up to these challenges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo also addressed internal problems that continue to affect the country, including corruption, budget leaks, and collusion between officials and unpatriotic businessmen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must dare to admit that there are too many leaks from our budget, irregularities, collusion between political officials, government officials at all levels, at all levels with unscrupulous businessmen, unpatriotic businessmen. We should not be afraid to see this reality,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the President pointed out that many Indonesians still live below the poverty line, including schoolchildren who go to school without having breakfast and poorly maintained schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us not be overly pleased to see statistical figures that lead us to be quickly happy, too quickly satisfied, even though we have not seen the big picture,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President also invited all parties to unite in finding solutions to these issues.<\/p>\n
