President Prabowo Subianto visited the Aquaculture Production Business Service Center (BLUPPB) in Karawang regency, West Java province, on Monday (12\/02). This visit is part of the Government\u2019s efforts to realize the Asta Cita missions, focusing on food self-sufficiency, economic equity, and poverty alleviation through the optimization of the fisheries sector.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo arrived at the BLUPPB Karawang complex at around 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time and headed directly to the observation tower to inspect the saline tilapia fish farming ponds. From the tower, the President observed the ongoing aquaculture activities in the area.<\/p>\n

Following this, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, gave a presentation via a display panel regarding the potential and productivity of these aquaculture ponds. He explained that the saline tilapia farming in Karawang has set a target yield of 80-100 tons per hectare per cycle.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo, accompanied by Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and Vice Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan, then participated in the release of saline tilapia fry into one of the ponds. This activity is expected to boost pond productivity and support the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries\u2019 (KKP) priority programs based on blue economy concept.<\/p>\n

Afterward, President Prabowo inspected the nursery area for saline tilapia fry, which is part of the initial aquaculture cycle. He also interacted with the residents and fish farmers around the pond area.<\/p>\n

The saline tilapia farming program at BLUPPB Karawang aims to support the provision of fish-based free nutritious meals for the community. This initiative aligns with the Government\u2019s efforts to combat stunting and improve people\u2019s nutrition.<\/p>\n

This visit also affirmed the Government\u2019s commitment to promoting the aquaculture sector as one of the main pillars of the national economy while strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global market.
