Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri has reported the positive development of Indonesia’s tourism sector and the increase in the number of foreign tourists and domestic tourists in the first 100 days of her term of office.<\/p>\n

“I reported [to the President] that in the 100-day period, Ministry of Tourism was able to maintain the increase in the number of foreign and domestic tourist visits with increasing figures compared to the same period in 2023,” said Widiyanti after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (02\/05) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n

The Minister explained that the positive results reflect tourists’ trust in Indonesia’s tourism policies and conditions under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.<\/p>\n

Based on data from Statistics Indonesia (Indonesia\u2019s Central Statistics Agency), the number of foreign tourist visits in the fourth quarter of 2024 was recorded at 3.37 million.<\/p>\n

“The number of foreign tourist visits in the fourth quarter of 2024 was recorded at 3.37 million, growing 10.3 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2023,” she said.<\/p>\n

Widiyanti also reported significant developments in the domestic tourism sector, with the number of tourist trips in the fourth quarter of 2024 reaching 263.13 million, an increase of 23.2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.<\/p>\n

“Overall, in 2024 the number of tourist visits reached 13.74 million, an increase of around 18 percent compared to 2023. Likewise, the number of domestic tourist trips reached 1 billion and 21.56 million, an increase of 22 percent compared to 2023,” continued the Minister of Tourism.<\/p>\n

The Minister also stated that Indonesia’s tourism sector also has a positive impact on labor absorption, resulting in an increase in the number of tourism workers by 2.5 percent compared to 2023, while expressing her optimism that the development of the tourism sector can make a major contribution to Indonesia’s economic growth.<\/p>\n

“In terms of labor absorption, the number of tourism workers in 2024 was recorded at 25.01 million, growing 2.5 percent compared to 24.41 million in 2023. So I want to state here that I am optimistic that the development of the tourism sector can continue and further encourage the contribution of the tourism sector to the growth of our national gross domestic product (GDP),” she remarked.
