President Prabowo\u202fSubianto on Wednesday (05\/07) welcomed Gates\u202fFoundation founder, Bill\u202fGates, at the Merdeka\u202fPalace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, they discussed measures to strengthen collaboration in philanthropy, including the development of Danantara\u202fTrust\u202fFund.<\/p>\n

Rosan\u202fRoeslani\u2014Minister of Investment & Downstreaming\/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and Chairperson of Danantara\u2019s Board\u2014told journalists that Danantara is currently setting up the Danantara\u202fTrust\u202fFund. The aim is to broaden social contributions in education, sanitation, and improvements to Indonesians\u2019 quality of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the numbers we\u2019ve run, at the beginning of the year we will put US$100\u202fmillion, and we project that within five to six years we can contribute around US$1\u202fbillion to the Danantara\u202fTrust\u202fFund,\u201d Rosan explained to reporters after the meeting.<\/p>\n

Rosan noted that intensive discussions with the Gates\u202fFoundation on this collaboration have already begun. Under the plan, the Gates\u202fFoundation is expected to take part in co\u2011financing the Danantara\u202fTrust\u202fFund.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the overarching goal of the initiative is to make Indonesia one of the philanthropic hubs in ASEAN region and invited business leaders and international philanthropists to contribute.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is what we want to drive, because it will have a tremendously positive impact on all of us,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Rosan added that Danantara will coordinate the program with various state\u2011owned enterprises that already have their own CSR initiatives, so that social activities become more structured, sustainable, and aligned with government programs.<\/p>\n

The collaboration is now being formalized. According to Rosan, two representatives from the Gates\u202fFoundation have been appointed to continue technical discussions.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur hope is to follow international standards. We aim to attract not only Indonesian philanthropists but also those from ASEAN and other countries.
