French President Emmanuel Macron, in a joint press statement with President Prabowo Subianto, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (5\/28), expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he received during his state visit with his delegation to Indonesia.<\/p>\n

“First of all, I would like to thank Mr. President and the people of Indonesia for welcoming me here, in Jakarta, with an extraordinary welcome since this morning,” President Macron said to begin his remarks.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the vision shared between Indonesia and France in maintaining sovereignty, international law, and non-double standard principle. He confirmed France’s firm stance on the Ukrainian conflict and the situation in Palestine and Israel. President Macron also appreciated Indonesia’s active role in promoting sustainable peaceful solutions.<\/p>\n

“I would like to thank Mr. President Prabowo for his very clear expression, commitment, as well as his involvement and availability,” he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the international cooperation, President Macron emphasized the importance of collaboration in maritime affairs. He urged Indonesia to participate in the United Nations Ocean Conference to be held in Nice, France. “We build our partnership hand in hand,” he said.<\/p>\n

In the defense sector, President Macron welcomed the progress of strategic defense equipment cooperation between the two countries. He further emphasized the importance of supply chain resilience and energy transition.<\/p>\n

“France is also Indonesia\u2019s partner for energy transition. A total of \u20ac450 million out of \u20ac500 million commitment has been channeled through ASEAN and I am pleased that today important projects in the field of solar power and hydrogen are undertaken,” President Macron said.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he also underlined the importance of cultural and educational cooperation that will be expanded to various sectors. He hopes that the partnership can be in line with Indonesia\u2019s increasing investment in France.<\/p>\n

President Macron expressed his full support for the completion of the Indonesia\u2013European Union CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement) and the free nutritious meal program in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Concluding his remarks, President Macron delivered an important message, \u201cDespite the distance, I have a simple message: France is on Indonesia\u2019s side and in many aspects we share the same ideas about the world order,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, President Macron also extended an open invitation to President Prabowo to be a guest of honor on Bastille Day in Paris, July 14th<\/sup>. \u201cI would like to invite President Prabowo to visit Paris on July 14 so that the Indonesian National Defense Forces can parade with our Armed Forces and (President Prabowo) can be our guest of honor,\u201d President Macron concluded.
