President Prabowo Subianto Monday (06\/16) had the annual Leader’s Retreat bilateral meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at Parliament House, Singapore.<\/p>\n

Prior to the Retreat session, both leaders convened a t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate meeting to discuss strategic bilateral issues.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Wong appreciated President Prabowo’s visit and underlined the significance of the meeting as a milestone in the new phase of Indonesia-Singapore relations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to once again welcome all of you to Singapore, and extend a special welcome to President Prabowo on your first state visit to Singapore. Although we have met on several occasions before, this visit holds particular significance as it marks your first state visit, and I am pleased that it coincides with our annual Leaders\u2019 Retreat, a meaningful tradition between our two countries.\u201d PM Wong said.<\/p>\n

PM Wong also highlighted the close ties that have long existed between the two nations, including during previous administrations.<\/p>\n

Both leaders agreed to use this meeting as a key momentum to advance a strategic partnership that is responsive to regional dynamics and future opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s Leaders\u2019 Retreat marks the first for both of us in our current capacities. I look forward to working with you, Mr. President, along with your delegates, ministers, and officials, to chart a new path forward in this evolving chapter of our bilateral relations,\u201d PM Wong stated.<\/p>\n

In the meeting, President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from the Singaporean Government and congratulated Lawrence Wong on his re-election as Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo also recalled his closeness to Singapore since childhood and emphasized the strong personal and historical ties between Indonesian and Singaporean leaders.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, I spent part of my childhood in Singapore. Our ties with Singapore go back a long way. I believe many Indonesian leaders have developed strong relationships with their Singaporean counterparts,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

The annual meeting was also attended by several ministers from both countries and served as a key momentum to enhance strategic cooperation across various sectors.<\/p>\n
