President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (06\/27) met Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, the two leaders addressed various strategic global issues, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the latest development in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n

“At the global level, we discussed Iran-Israel conflict and the current situation in Palestine. We continue to advocate for peaceful resolutions. We welcome the ceasefire between Israel and Iran. We hope it will last and move towards a peaceful settlement,” President Prabowo said during a joint press statement following the meeting.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and Malaysia share the same view on the importance of peaceful resolution in conflict zones. The two countries have also agreed to fully support the independence of Palestine.<\/p>\n

“Regarding Palestine, we remain steadfast in supporting its independence. Only a two-state solution can end this conflict. Indonesia and Malaysia believe that a collective global effort is needed to push for peaceful conflict resolutions,” President Prabowo stated.<\/p>\n

Echoing President Prabowo’s remarks, PM Anwar Ibrahim also highlighted the importance of ASEAN\u2019s role and bilateral cooperation in addressing various global challenges. He expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s leadership in the region, including in dealing with conflicts in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n

“When facing issues such as tariffs or restrictions in international relations, our strength lies in domestic resilience, bilateral strength, and ASEAN unity. We must foster these with a strong spirit among leaders,” PM Anwar said.<\/p>\n

PM Anwar also underlined Indonesia’s active role in resolving the conflict in Myanmar. He also highlighted developments in Gaza and the Iran\u2013Israel conflict, reiterating Malaysia\u2019s firm stance against Israel\u2019s aggression. He welcomed the ongoing ceasefire.<\/p>\n

“We feel somewhat relieved, at least temporarily, due to the ceasefire between Israel and Iran,” PM Anwar said.<\/p>\n

This meeting is a testament to the diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries in promoting global peace, while reinforcing the strategic positions of Indonesia and Malaysia amid shifting global geopolitics.
