President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (06\/07) reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation and advancing economic partnerships among developing countries during the second session of the 17th<\/sup> BRICS Summit (Brasil, Rusia, India, China, South Africa) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/p>\n

The high-level session, attended by Heads of State and Government, focused on the theme \u201cStrengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, President Prabowo emphasized the need to revitalize multilateralism in the context of an increasingly multipolar global landscape.<\/p>\n

The President, he added, also called for deeper economic collaboration among countries of the Global South and supported the expanded use of the New Development Bank (NDB).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis economic partnership among developing countries is crucial, and we hope to see increased utilization of the New Development Bank,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n

Airlangga further stated that Indonesia has expressed its readiness to actively participate in the NDB, ensuring access to development financing that aligns with the country\u2019s green transformation agenda and commitment to sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have seen that the New Development Bank is currently financing several projects, including clean energy projects, infrastructure development, and sustainability-related programs. To date, the Bank is managing around 120 projects with a total value of US$39 billion,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

During the second session, Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir, commonly known as Tata, stated that President Prabowo also introduced an initiative titled the \u201cSouth-South Economic Compact.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Deputy Minister Tata, the initiative aims to position BRICS countries as key drivers in expanding access for Global South nations to global trade networks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe objective is for BRICS to act as the driving force to enable wider trade access and deeper economic integration for countries in the Global South by supporting their inclusion in the supply chains,\u201d the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
