President Prabowo Subianto attended the plenary session of the BRICS Summit 2025 held at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday (07\/06). In the meeting under the theme \u201cStrengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance\u201d, President Prabowo asserted Indonesia\u2019s commitment to world peace through multilateralism and fairness in global governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. President also firmly asserted [that he] opposes war and the use of a double standard. He and the majority of distinguished invitees promoted multilateralism reforms and global south representation in global governance, especially in international organizations such as the United Nations. Therefore, BRICS is expected to promote a fairer multilateral leadership,\u201d said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartanto.<\/p>\n

President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of Bandung Spirit in the BRICS forum, a spirit to be adopted to support developing countries and the freedom of Palestine. From Indonesia\u2019s perspective, BRICS should be a balanced power that can echo the voices of the Global South fairly and consistently.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. President emphasized Indonesia\u2019s strong relations with Palestine and reminded us of the Bandung Spirit to be adopted in BRICS,\u201d the Minister continued.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, according to Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, who also joined the Summit, the majority of leaders highlighted the uncertain global situation. \u201cOne of the most discussed issues was the importance of BRICS leadership for the global south in order to promote the reform of multilateral system,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Minister acknowledged the importance of the Global South\u2019s consolidation and its impact on promoting international stability and creating supportive development for developing countries. Indonesia also asserted its commitment to global reforms and its support for BRICS countries achieving a more inclusive and balanced world order.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, the BRICS sought to bring about reforms, and to strengthen the multilateral system,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
