President Prabowo Subianto led a Cabinet Meeting via video conference from his residence in Hambalang in Bogor regency over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The primary agenda was to monitor the potential forest and land fires and to implement appropriate mitigation measures.<\/p>\n

In his written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that President Prabowo Subianto expressed his appreciation to the Ministries and all teams involved in the mitigation efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President expressed his appreciation to Ministry of the Environment and other relevant ministries, as well as the teams, for their efforts in preventing and mitigating potential forest fires across the country,\u201d wrote the Cabinet Secretary.<\/p>\n

Teddy also mentioned that the President highlighted the area affected by fires, noting that it has decreased significantly over the past two years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the data, there has been a reduction in the area affected by fires. Compared to 2023, the fire-affected area decreased significantly by 33.3%, reaching 376,805 hectares in 2024. Furthermore, data from August 2025 indicates that the total fire-affected area dropped to just 8,95 hectares,\u201d said the Cabinet Secretary.<\/p>\n

Teddy added that President Prabowo Subianto also stressed the importance of law enforcement against anyone responsible for land and forest burning, while urging all parties to remain vigilant and prepared for the challenges posed by the upcoming dry season.<\/p>\n

\u201cLaw enforcement will be strictly applied to anyone responsible for land and forest burning. The President also reminded the teams at both the central and the regional levels of government to stay prepared. According to data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (MCGA), the dry season is expected to continue until August 2025,\u201d said the Cabinet Secretary.<\/p>\n

For the record, the meeting was part of the Government’s initiative to ensure that mitigation measures are implemented effectively amid the challenges posed by climate change and extreme weather, which may increase the risk of land and forest fires in certain regions of Indonesia.\u00a0 (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (RD\/MEP)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
