President Prabowo Subianto attended the 2025 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) and began his agenda at the event by visiting several exhibitions of national superior technological innovations at the Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), West Java province, Thursday (8\/7). Upon arriving at the venue, President Prabowo inspected the exhibitions which showcased various achievements and breakthroughs in eight national priority sectors, including energy, defense, digitalization (artificial intelligence and semiconductors), downstreaming, healthcare, food, maritime, and advanced materials and manufacturing.<\/p>\n

One of the exhibitors, PT Pertamina (a state-owned oil and gas company), showcased innovations in the energy sector, including the Red and White Catalyst and a domestically-produced oil and gas drilling rig. Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that President Prabowo’s presence at the convention demonstrated his support for the national technological development.<\/p>\n

“We hope that the innovations we’re showcasing today can contribute to an increase of oil and gas production in the future, so President Prabowo’s target of increasing oil and gas lifting and maintaining national energy security can be achieved,” Fadjar said.<\/p>\n

Fadjar also emphasized the importance of collaboration in developing ever-evolving technologies. “The challenge, of course, is technology because technology is constantly evolving. Therefore, we must be open and collaborate with various parties, including ITB, which also focuses on technology,” he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the healthcare sector, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), through Science Techno Park, showcased adaptive ventilator technology that can respond adaptively to a patient’s oxygen needs. Deputy Director of UGM Science Techno Park, Prof. Sang Kompiang Wirawan said this innovation has been granted a distribution permit and is ready for production.<\/p>\n

“This ventilator is special because the current ventilators work by regulating patient’s oxygen supply. This (ventilator) is different. If the patient is out of breath, the ventilator will respond adaptively to the patient\u2019s condition. So, this is a new innovation created to adapt to the patient\u2019s condition,” said Prof. Sang Kompiang.<\/p>\n

He further emphasized the importance of Government support in the downstreaming of innovation. “The Government’s presence is essential. More importantly, the Government should be the first buyer of the nation’s innovations. These (innovations) can be utilized then by state-owned enterprises (SOEs), regional governments, and the central government. What does it mean? The Government is present as an off-taker, as the first buyer,” he stated.<\/p>\n

For the record, the 2025 KSTI is a platform for strategic collaboration between the Government, academics, and industries to promote Indonesia’s technological sovereignty. The presence of President Prabowo at the exhibition before delivering his keynote speech strengthened the message that the State is present and ready to support the advancement of science and technology as pillars of national development.<\/p>\n

“The President, as Head of State, has demonstrated his great support by attending this science and technology exhibition. We hope his presence here will be a catalyst or motivation for further advancement in science and technology in Indonesia,” Fadjar concluded.
