President Prabowo Subianto delivered his first state address on the Annual Session of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building, on the commemoration of the 80th<\/sup> Anniversary of Indonesia\u2019s Independence Proclamation, Jakarta on Friday (08\/15). In his remarks, the President stated that the distortions in the national economic system are in violation of the direction as mandated in the Constitution, specifically Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n

The President further emphasized that the strength of a nation lies in its abilities to secure and manage its resources for the greatest benefits of its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is indeed ironic that the country producing the most palm oil in the world once faced a shortage of cooking oil. That is very peculiar and unthinkable. It turns out to be the result of manipulation \u2013 or I rather called it \u201cserakahnomics<\/em>\u201d (greedynomics) \u2013 which was previously mentioned by the Speaker of DPR,\u201d stated President Prabowo.<\/p>\n

The Head of State deemed the reasons behind food shortage and exorbitant increase in food price \u2013 despite the Government subsidies \u2013 and unequal economic growth were the disobedience to Article 33 Paragraph 1, 2, and 3 of the 1945 Constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cToo many children still go hungry, farmers and fishers struggle to sell their harvest, countless people live without adequate house, teachers go unappreciated, and families are unable to access medical care, whether due to high costs or the absence of medical facilities in their communities,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

Despite all of that, within the 299 days of his administration, President Prabowo has reported a number of significant improvements.<\/p>\n

Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.12 percent amidst the global turmoil, and the investment realization in the first semester of 2025 has reached Rp942 trillion \u2013 a 13.6 percent increase from the previous year \u2013 and has succeeded in absorbing 1.2 million workers.<\/p>\n

To help create an equitable economy, the Government has established 80,000 Red-and-White Village\/Subdistrict Cooperatives (KDMP) to boost village economy, sell subsidized basic commodities, and provide access to protein, fish, and meat at affordable prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe presence of cooperatives in every village will strengthen local economy and create millions of new jobs,\u201d said the President.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Government has also formed the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Board (Danantara Indonesia), overseeing assets worth more than US$1 trillion. Danantara focuses on boosting investment in natural resources downstreaming and strategic sectors to create a high-quality job market.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the healthcare sector, the Government has provided free health check services for more than 18 million citizens, leveling up 66 hospitals in 66 regencies, and developing Sanur Special Economic Zone as an international medical service center.<\/p>\n
